Therese
Therese Martinez was diagnosed with T1D when she was 14 and for the first 10 years of diagnosis (just had her 16th diaversary) she felt very mislead and misinformed with how to manage blood sugars, mental health, and fitness with T1D. So often she would just hear “well, that’s diabetes” and would never get answers to problems. It seemed like such a copout and although she knew there were MANY times blood sugars can’t really be explained, she discovered there were actually WAYS to manipulate diet/lifestyle to IMPROVE HEALTH. Therese got her masters in Dietetics Nutrition and Exercise Physiology looking to become a diabetes educator and soon discovered that conventional medicine is a bit off... “I didn't like what I had to preach,” how behind research and everything was, and the lack of proper education and resources given to patients. This is why she decided to go off on her own. She has done LOTS of research, self-experimentation, trial and error with clients, and has discovered how to truly THRIVE with this condition BEYOND just blood sugar management. There is so much more to life than obsessing about sugars and she wants people to understand how they can eat well, move well, stress less, sleep better, and LIVE their best life with Type 1. She is also a personal trainer and loves all sorts of fitness. She trains people in all walks of life with and without T1. From trail running, to boxing, to crossfit, to obstacle course races, and is an absolute lover of empowering people through fitness. Therese is a HUGE lover of sand volleyball!!
